New Zealand revelation Cole Davies will fast-track his career to the professional ranks entering the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, graduating to 250SX with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing.

While it’s yet to be confirmed what region the 17-year-old will race in, Star Racing has made Davies’ move official after he was initially due to remain in the SMX Next program.

The arrival of Davies in the pro-level Star Racing team will see it expand to a seven-rider 250 class roster, joining Haiden Deegan, Nate Thrasher, Daxton Bennick, Max Anstie, Michael Mosiman and new recruit Pierce Brown. Australian Kayden Minear and Carson Wood will form the team’s amateur effort.

“I’m ready to step it up with the big dogs,” Davies commented. “The off-season has been good to me and I’m feeling confident that I can go ride to my potential and get some good results.”

Davies first put himself on the map in America last year and then carried that momentum into 2024, where he won Supercross Futures main events at Anaheim 2 and Salt Lake City, which doubled as the Supercross Futures AMA National Championship.

A mid-year transfer from GasGas to Star Racing and Yamaha saw him go on to win the Ironman Raceway Moto Combine overall, as well as capture the 250 World All-Stars victory at the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Finals in Las Vegas.
