McElrath edges teammate Ferrandis atop 250 Class charts this morning.
Drying conditions saw Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo go quickest in both 450MX sessions this morning, qualifying fastest in Ironman’s round three of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
After recording a 2m14.341s in session one, Cianciarulo lowered the benchmark to 2m09.464s in the second session as the track formed.
The rookie led red plate-holder Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) by eight-tenths, with Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha) and another newcomer in Chase Sexton (Team Honda HRC) the top five.
Positions six through 10 were filled by Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna), Max Anstie (HEP Motorsports Suzuki), Fredrik Norren (JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki), Benny Bloss (Husqvarna) and Broc Tickle (Monster Energy Yamaha). Defending champion Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) was an uncharacteristic 13th.
In 250MX, Shane McElrath (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) was somewhat of a surprise at the top of the charts, his 2m13.107s a tenth ahead of teammate and points-leader Dylan Ferrandis (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha).
Last weekend’s winner Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda) was third, followed by Brandon Hartranft (TLD Red Bull KTM), Alex Martin (JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki), Jo Shimoda (Geico Honda), RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna), Derek Drake (TLD Red Bull KTM), Jett Lawrence (Geico Honda) and Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha).
Still recovering from a dislocated shoulder sustained last weekend, Hunter Lawrence (Geico Honda) managed to complete laps in both sessions and ended up 14th overall on the time-sheets.
