Twisted Tea Suzuki rider Marshal Weltin has undergone surgery on a torn ACL sustained at Thunder Valley, sidelining him for the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship at this point.

Weltin already recovered from a knee injury that was operated on last October, however, he re-injured it in the second 450MX moto at Colorado and is now back in recovery mode.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to make RedBud,” Weltin revealed. “Yesterday I underwent a successful ACL repair for the second time this year. A couple weeks ago during round three of Pro Motocross in Colorado, I caught my foot in a rut while my feet were on the pegs, it twisted my toe open and I felt it re-tear instantly.

“It happened lap eight of moto two. I still managed to finish and get 11th, but just rode the rest of the race through the pain. This has been my third surgery in two years and not one of the injuries has been from crashing on a dirt bike. This one is a tough pill for me to swallow, I know many have/had it way worse and that’s humbling – they say bad things come in threes, so hopefully we are clear sailing after this recovery.”

Weltin’s best results of the season came at round three of the season with 11-11 moto scores onboard the RM-Z450, which placed him 12th overall for the weekend. It’s unclear at this point when he will be fit to return.
