Lawrence brothers lead each coast entering season-ending Showdown.
With the fastest laps in all three divisions of Monster Energy Supercross in the setup for the 2023 season finale in Salt Lake City, Chase Sexton, Hunter Lawrence, and Jett Lawrence delivered Team Honda HRC one last qualifying sweep to conclude the season indoors.
A 46.751s revolution of the Rice-Eccles Stadium track from the first timed qualifying session stood as Sexton’s best and was enough to pace the 450SX class entering the season-ending night show.
Ken Roczen of Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki was second to his former teammate and fellow Florida resident Sexton in both timed sessions. His 46.958s lap from Q2 put him within 0.207s of Sexton on their respective best laps.
Justin Hill (Team Tedder Monster Energy Mountain Motorsports) turned in a Q2 lap good enough for third overall, 0.652s in arrears of Sexton.
Dean Wilson (Fire Power Honda) was fourth on the combined timesheet, leading Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Kawasaki), Josh Hill (Team Tedder Monster Energy Mountain Motorsports), Aaron Plessinger (Red Bull KTM), Shane McElrath (Twisted Tea Suzuki Progressive Insurance), Grant Harlan (Rock River Yamaha), and Kyle Chisholm (Twisted Tea Suzuki Progressive Insurance) in the top 10.
In preparation for his final expected Supercross appearance, Alex Ray was 13th.
Hunter Lawrence laid down the fastest 250SX lap from either regional division, leading the East class with a 46.572s time.
Jordon Smith (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing), Jo Shimoda (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), Jeremy Martin (Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha), and Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) slotted into the remaining top-five positions behind the older Lawrence brother.
In 250SX West, Jett Lawrence returned to the track one week after finalizing another title and put his factory-prepared Honda CRF250R 0.288s clear of his closest rival RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna).
Enzo Lopes had the third-fastest lap overall in the West group, coming within 0.695s of Lawrence aboard his Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha machine.
Levi Kitchen (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) and Mitchell Oldenburg (Smartop MotoConcepts Honda) completed the top five in the class.
