Following a violent crash in Houston that brought out the red flag, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis has stated that he is ‘okay’ after his 450SX main event scare.

The French rider was battling inside the top 10 early, but a mistake causing him to jump into the rear wheel of Ken Roczen would leave him on the ground and unconscious for a number of minutes. He was then helped to his feet with the assistance of the Alpinestars Medical Unit.

“I’m okay after my crash in the main event,” explained Ferrandis. “I hit my head first and got knocked out for some minutes… Everything is fine and I’m okay now, fortunately. Will follow the concussion protocol and will see when I can ride again. Sorry… Big thanks to the medical crew.”

Ferrandis opened his Supercross season with consistent 4-6-5 results across the opening three rounds, however the DNF in Houston sees him drop to eighth in the 450SX championship points with a return date yet to be confirmed by Ferrandis or Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing.

“Unfortunately, it’s part of the sport, but to see one of your guys crash the way Dylan did and to see him lying there was pretty tough,” explained Jeremy Coker, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team manager. “Fortunately, when I got to him, he was able to open his eyes and looked at me and said my name, and it was a huge relief to see him stand up and walk away.”
