The second triple crown race of the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross season is underway in Arlington, with qualifying being led by Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider Eli Tomac in 450SX and Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence leading the way in 250SX East.

In the 450SX class, Eli Tomac snatched the top spot from Team Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen in the closing moments of the final session of the day, with a 48.151s lap time.

The lead duo were separated by just .036s as the session came to a close, with fastest rider in the first session Chase Sexton crossing the line in third of a half second back. Sexton returns to action after crashing out of the lead last weekend in Minneapolis, escaping major injury.

Second year 450 rider Dylan Ferrandis put himself inside the top five, putting his Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha fourth overall as he continues to search for the first premiere class win of his career.

Last week’s second place finisher and reigning champion Cooper Webb was fifth fastest. Webb continues to gain momentum as he and the Red Bull KTM team figure out their all-new KTM 450.

Sixth place went to Justin Brayton aboard his Smartop Bullfrog Spas MotoConcepts Honda. Brayton is a rider to watch this evening as he looks to capitalize on the three race, triple crown format.

Malcolm Stewart was seventh fastest aboard his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna as he looks to capture his second podium of the season tonight at AT&T Stadium.

Winner from round seven Jason Anderson found himself in eighth at the end of qualifying. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider looks to bring home his fourth win of the season tonight.

Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) was ninth fastest with Vince Friese putting his Smartop Bullfrog Spas MotoConcepts Honda in tenth overall.

In 250SX East action it was all Jett Lawrence at the front of the field, setting the bar in the class with a 48.513s lap as he enters his first triple crown race of his career.

The Team Honda HRC rider finished just ahead of Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner, with Forkner logging a 49.254s lap. Forkner’s teammate Cameron McAdoo rounded out the top three, as he looks to build momentum on the back of a podium finish last weekend.

Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider Jeremy Martin ended the session in fourth place with his rookie teammate Levi Kitchen finding himself fifth in the session, the first rider in the 50 second range.

RJ Hampshire was sixth, with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider looking to grab his first podium of the season tonight in Arlington.

Mitchell Oldenburg (Smartop Bullfrog Spas MCR Honda) was seventh fastest on the heels of a tough opener in Minneapolis. Eighth place went to Enzo Lopes aboard his ClubMX Yamaha, with Pierce Brown (TLD Red Bull GasGas) and Jordon Smith (SBG Honda) rounding out the top 10.
