First lap mistakes in round five of the 2021 Pro Motocross season at Southwick cost Jeremy Martin (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) a shot at the podium in his second race back from injury.

It was a tough go at Southwick for Martin, who crashed on the first lap of both motos, eventually leaving him with 13th overall on the day.

“I got good starts in both motos but unfortunately went down on the first lap in both of them,” Martin explained. “I had to work really hard to get those 11-16 moto scores.”

Despite the issues, Martin is taking the positives and moving on to his home race at Spring Creek, a track owned and operated by his family.

“It was a tough day, but we have some things to take away from it,” he continued. “I’m looking forward to my home race next Saturday.”

A favorite for the 250MX championship this season, Martin is now eighth overall in the standings, 79 points back from Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) at the front as the series heads to Millville.
