The Frenchman makes it three out of four wins in 2021.
Dylan Ferrandis grabbed his second win in a row with his 1-2 performance at RedBud, making it three out of four wins in his rookie season aboard the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha YZ450F.
The Frenchman came out swinging as the series got back underway at the infamous RedBud Motocross for round four of the season, notching the fastest lap of the day in qualifying ahead of Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Kawasaki) and Chase Sexton (Team Honda HRC).
When the gate dropped on the first moto, it was Ferrandis’ teammate Aaron Plessinger jumping out to the lead with Ken Roczen (Team Honda HRC) and Cianciarulo in tow.
Ferrandis charged in the opening laps after starting in sixth, making his way to the top three halfway through the moto with Roczen and Plessinger just ahead of him on track.
As he caught Plessinger ahead of him, the two put on a charge to catch Roczen who was a few seconds ahead. Ferrandis made the move on Plessinger and eventually found himself in the lead with three laps to go. Roczen pressured late, but Ferrandis responded to take the moto win.
The duo were both docked points following the race for jumping on the red cross flag, after Dean Wilson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) crashed. Ferrandis seeing a one-point deduction with Roczen receiving a 2 point penalty as he jumped further than the Frenchman.
In moto two, Plessinger again grabbed the lead but was quickly overtaken by Tomac, who set out to a lead and never looked back to take his second moto win of the season.
Ferrandis battled throughout most of the moto for third with Roczen, but the German rider hit the ground hard, allowing Ferrandis through to chase down Plessinger in second.
After catching and passing Plessinger late in the moto, Ferrandis chased Tomac down the stretch, nearly catching him on the last lap to no avail, going on to notch 1-2 moto scores for his third overall win of the season.

Despite his troubles, Roczen managed fourth overall with 2-6 on the day, the German never able to recover into the top five after his high-speed crash late in the second moto.
