Reigning 250SX East champion Colt Nichols rebounded with solid starts to take his first moto podium of the season at High Point after a slow start to his 2021 Pro Motocross campaign.

Eventually ending up fourth overall with 2-5 moto scores at the third round, Nichols is progressing each round toward the front of the field after opening the season with ninth and fifth in the first two rounds.

“We made some progress at High Point, so I can’t complain about that,” Nichols explained. “I got some good starts and put myself in better positions, but I just didn’t ride and execute how I wanted to in that second moto.”

While the starts were better for him and the bike is in a good place in terms of setup, he admittedly lacked the rhythm to put himself on the podium in the second moto.

“My bike was great, and honestly, the conditions were good, but the track is just really tough to ride when you don’t have a flow, and that was my Moto 2.”

He’ll get a chance to continue building as he heads to Florida for two weeks of training while the series takes a weekend off ahead of round four at RedBud on 3 July.
