It was a day of career first for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jalek Swoll as he took back-to-back moto podiums to take the 250MX overall at High Point ahead of Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) and Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha).

Coming into the weekend Swoll had notched his best moto finish at round two of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season in Thunder Valley with a sixth place, but he came out swinging to take a victory in moto one

The opening moto was full of action with Hunter Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) jumping out to the lead early ahead of Swoll and Cooper. Swoll challenged Lawrence early, with Lawrence hitting the ground in the opening laps and dropping down the order.

Swoll grabbed the lead but was eventually chased down by his teammate RJ Hampshire, with Hampshire making the pass and checking out by nearly five seconds.

Hampshire’s moto however would end in a DNF after losing his chain, giving Swoll his career-first moto win ahead of Colt Nichols (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) and Jett Lawrence. Jo Shimoda (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) took fourth with Cooper rounding out the top five.

In moto two, it was Star Racing Yamaha teammates Nichols and Cooper taking the holeshot, with Cooper taking the lead early and never looking back. Jett Lawrence charged his way into second but was unable to run Cooper down out front.

Swoll started up front and settled into third, eventually fending off a late-race charge from Garrett Marchbanks (ClubMX Yamaha) to seal another podium finish and the overall.

Second on the day went to Jett Lawrence with 3-2 moto scores, stretching his points lead by two points over the day’s third-place finisher Cooper.

Nichols continued to make progress at round three, notching his first moto podium of the day and taking fourth overall by going 2-5 in the motos. The reigning 250SX East champion looks to have found a bit more comfort and speed in the break after Thunder Valley.

Fifth was Marchbanks after challenging for the podium in the second moto. The ClubMX Yamaha rider managing 10-4 on the day to edge out former teammate Austin Forkner (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) who finished sixth after going 7-6.

Ty Masterpool (GasGas) had an incredible day in Pennsylvania, taking seventh overall by taking ninth in moto one and 10th in moto two.

Hunter Lawrence had a day to forget with eighth overall, the Australian crashing in both motos but recovering well for 8-11 moto scores on the day.

Dilan Schwartz put his BarX Chaparral Ecstar Suzuki inside the top 10 in the opening moto with a sixth-place and despite a crash in moto two, managed to finish 13th to take ninth overall.

FXR Chaparral Honda’s Carson Mumford had a solid performance to take his first overall top 10. The one-time amateur standout took home 13-7 moto scores to finish 10th overall.

The series now takes a weekend off before heading back to Michigan to the famed RedBud MX for round four over the Fourth of July weekend.
