Overcoming early crash to mark third 250SX East top 10 in 2021.
After sustaining an injury in a crash at Indianapolis 2, BarX Chaparral Suzuki’s John Short returned to action at Salt Lake City 1 to grab his third top 10 finish of the season.
In his sixth season of Monster Energy Supercross competition, Short was picking up momentum in the 250SX East championship, with back-to-back eighth-place finishes at Houston 3 and Indianapolis 1.
Unfortunately, a crash in the first corner of the Indianapolis 2 main event resulted in a shoulder injury that would sideline him through the remaining Indy rounds as well as Orlando.
He returned to action at Salt Lake City 1, notching another top 10 finish with his 10th place on the night.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been at the races and it was exciting to be back in the stadium and be around the whole Supercross environment,” Short explained. “I felt good on the bike and I was very motivated to do well in the main event.”
The seventh top-10 of his career didn’t come easy though, Short hit the ground early in the main event, forcing him to charge through the pack for his eventual result.
“Unfortunately, I had a small crash in turn two in the main and I put myself in a position where I was racing from the back,” he continued. “I raced hard and 10th place was what I was able to do. I’m very grateful to be healthy and racing my RM-Z250. I’m looking forward to the showdown next weekend.”
