450SX contender faces 12-point deficit with four rounds remaining.
The plan going forward is simple for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton, who revealed following his victory in Philadelphia on Saturday night that he is in a must-win situation if he is to capture this year’s 450SX championship.
With his round 13 triumph, Sexton cut title-rival Cooper Webb’s (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) series lead to 12 points with four rounds remaining. The duo were the class of the field inside Lincoln Financial Field, putting 24 seconds on third-place rider Ken Roczen (Progressive Ecstar Suzuki).
Given the deficit to third, it means that if Sexton were to win the final four and Webb finished in second place on each occasion, the total points gained would be exactly 12. Though it’s never as clear-cut as this, it nevertheless sets up for a nail-biting run home.
“All I can do, really, is win from here on out,” Sexton mentioned post-race. “I knew Coop [Webb] was going to be fighting all the way to the end, that’s just the type of racer he is – he’s strong. I knew I was in for a long main event, but I just tried to pick off my laps and be smart.”
Each rider currently has four wins in the 2025 season, and the pressure is on each of them to close out what has been a close season of racing since the opening round in Anaheim in January.
