250SX West title rivals exchange words post-race at Lumen Field.
An on-track clash followed by a tense exchange post-race sent the increasing rivalry between Haiden Deegan and Julien Beaumer into overdrive in Seattle, with the latter indicating that Deegan has ‘got one coming’ in Philadelphia.
After going down in the early stages of the 250SX West main event, Deegan made contact in an aggressive pass that almost left Beaumer on the ground in the race’s closing laps, leading to an intense war of words after the checkered flag.
Deegan – who leaned into a prison-type theme this weekend following his arrest for street racing/stunt driving last week – continues to lead the western division, now 14 points clear of Beaumer who finished fourth at Lumen Field.
“First lap, I tucked the front and I just made a wrong swing on bike set-up,” Deegan recalled from P3 on the podium. “That’s just how it goes, that’s racing, and I’ll take the blame on that one – I crashed first lap and put myself in a bad position. I fought my way back up and made my way to third.
“Obviously, everyone knows what happened in these last two weeks, but ‘JuJu’ went out of his own hands to post it on his story and it had my address and stuff, and now you’re talking about my family, putting my family in danger, so that’s a whole different scene. I just told him not to do that, dude. It ain’t cool and he obviously lipped back, but yeah, we’ll see what happens from here on out.”
The broadcast immediately had Beaumer respond from within the stadium, refusing to back down to Deegan, and further fueling the sport’s newest rivalry with just three rounds remaining in the 250SX West championship.
“My race was alright, I got caught in lappers a little bit, and made some mistakes – that’s on me,” he commented. “For that situation, no worries [laughs], I ain’t the only one who posted his address, so he can talk all he wants, but that’s public record. I ain’t worried about it, he’s got one coming in Philly.”
