Now focusing on the beginning of Pro Motocross season in May.
Previous 250SX East red plate-holder Max Anstie thought that he was going to get away with the minor error that left him with a broken fibula bone in his leg and derailed his Supercross title hopes for 2025, now focusing on Pro Motocross.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider won the opening round in Tampa and controlled much of the race on his way to P2 in Detroit, but has since been sidelined.
Anstie crashed out of the second qualifying session at Protective Stadium in Alabama last weekend, ruling him out of the weekend, and ending his Supercross season altogether.
“It’s just a broken fibula, so it’s the little bone in your leg – it doesn’t need surgery,” Anstie explained. “It’s the name of the game, it’s what we do, and it happens.
“Obviously had a good run going there for the first few races, the first two rounds were awesome obviously, then it took the wind out of my sail a little bit in Daytona when I crashed on press day, and salvaged what I could for there and Indy.
“I felt like I was back on track for Birmingham until I was this close from making that quad on the left side of the face. I did it the lap before and hit a spot that was a little bit softer and that was all she wrote. I actually thought I was going to get away with it when I was in the air and even after I cased it.
“Just landed a little awkward and it pushed against my fibula, and that was it. It could have been worse, it’s not the end of the world, and we’ll get ready for outdoors. I’ll be back strong. We learned a lot with the team in my first year racing Supercross with the team and they did a great job.
“We all performed very well in those first few rounds. There’s definitely some areas we can fine-tune for next year, get a step better again, and we’ll be right. We’ll focus on outdoors and SMX – it’s not the end of the world, like I said. In a few weeks I’ll be back rocking and rolling.”
It’s now anticipated that his next appearance will come at Fox Raceway at the end of May for the outdoor opener, which will be instrumental for his wider SuperMotocross World Championship prospects in the 250SMX category.
