After crashing out of the Tampa 250SX East main event, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Pierce Brown has undergone surgery to repair a broken T5 vertebra.

Brown’s incident occurred at the halfway point of the race, the 22-year-old going down in the whoops, leading to a red flag and the race being temporarily halted.

“Damn what a night! I felt great all night leading my heat and main,” said Brown. “Halfway through the main I crashed in the whoops. Unfortunately I broke my T5 vertebrae, I had surgery today to get it fixed so that I could get back to racing.

“I want to thank all my family, friends, fans, and Star Racing Yamaha for all the support. I will keep you guys updated on my recovery.”

With the injury coming in what was his first official appearance at Star Racing Yamaha during 2025, a timeline for the return of the Utah native is yet to be confirmed.
