A reserve rider role for teenage talent Drew Adams will see the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki prospect continue within the SMX Next development platform after signing a multi-year commitment, awaiting his chance to turn pro full-time.

Adams, who is still only 16 years of age, will step into the professional ranks should the opportunity arise in 2025, but is due to begin the new season in Supercross Futures.

“So for this year, my plan is to race SMX Next again, but I’m more of just a fill-in rider for Pro Circuit,” Adams explained. “So, you know, if anything tragic were to happen, then I would be on the gate ready to race.”

After spending the summer in Canada racing to second in the 250 Pro Triple Crown Series, Adams says he doesn’t have any form of frustration by not yet having a race seat available to him at the decorated Pro Circuit team of Mitch Payton. Still, he’s preparing in case the call comes sooner than expected.

“There’s no frustration, you know,” he added. “Right now, I’m training like I have to be ready for A1, because anything could happen. And to race SMX Next again, I’m not too angry about it, you know, because I don’t really know where I am at in Supercross right now.

“I’m not like urgent to get to get into racing, I think me taking it slowly and I think that when the time comes, you know, I’ll be ready for it and whatever happens, happens.”

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki will field the five-rider roster of Levi Kitchen, Cameron McAdoo, Seth Hammaker, Ty Masterpoll and Garrett Marchbanks for the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship onboard the updated new KX250. Adams has made one professional start in his career, finishing P12 at Ironman this season.
