Rockstar Energy GasGas Factory Racing has moved to announce Casey Cochran’s signing for the 2025 season, transferring across from Husqvarna and is set to join returning GasGas pair Justin Barcia and Ryder DiFrancesco.

Cochran, 18, turned professional this year and particularly impressed outdoors by qualifying quickest at Hangtown and then finishing third on the podium at Spring Creek.

The teenager’s switch from Husqvarna to GasGas – retaining his ongoing connection to Rockstar Energy – is part of a wider reshuffle at the Austrian-owned manufacturers that will see Cochran and DiFrancesco on 250s at GasGas, with Barcia still the sole 450 team rider.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna will continue to field RJ Hampshire, who is expected to defend his 250SX West crown and then ride a 450 outdoors, and Malcolm Stewart in the premier class full-time. Both Christian Craig and Pierce Brown are now at Star Racing, while Guillem Farres is returning to GPs with Triumph.

“I’m super-stoked to join the Rockstar Energy GasGas Factory Racing Team for the 2025 season,” Cochran said. “With so many familiar faces around, especially having been a Rockstar athlete since my early amateur career, the transition has been seamless.

“I am excited to have new teammates that I can learn from and build fresh relationships with as we gear up for Supercross. The crew we have is incredible, and the bike is feeling great – I’m ready to get out on the track and show everyone what this team can do together. Let’s do this!”

Cochran’s arrival comes in addition to confirmation that Sean Murphy – team coordinator at Rockstar Energy Husqvarna for the past decade – is also heading to GasGas to head the new in-house factory program.

“I am extremely excited to accept the role of team manager for the Rockstar Energy GasGas Factory Racing Team and be part of this new team partnership between two iconic brands,” Murphy explained. “The Rockstar Energy brand means a lot to our racing family, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have them onboard for the 2024 SMX championship season.

“I got to see Casey’s talent and great potential firsthand last year, and I’m excited to see him thrive with riders like Justin and Ryder. We’re ready for 2025!”
