A second-place finish secured the title.
For the second year in a row, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan claimed the 250SMX World Championship. Left to settle with P2 at the final round, Deegan still had plenty of points in hand to secure the title.
The overall win on the night in Las Vegas would go to Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas’ Pierce Brown who put together an incredible 2-1 result to take his first win as a professional. He had Deegan close to him in the second moto but was able to pull away and cruise to the win.
Deegan would go 1-2 on the night after he led every lap of the first moto over Brown. The second moto saw Deegan get a mid-pack start and work his way forward, but Brown was just a bit better ahead of him. Still though, Deegan walked away with another championship for his mantle and $500,000 in prize winnings.
Rounding out the podium at the finale was Star Racing’s Jordon Smith who capped off his time with the team going 5-3 to get on the podium. Team Honda HRC’s Jo Shimoda was fourth going 4-5 while Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle rounded out to the top five with 3-8 scores. Vialle also secured second in the championship with the result.
Behind them, it was Star Racing’s Max Anstie in sixth, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ty Masterpool in seventh, Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen in eighth, Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer in ninth, and Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks in 10th.
Unofficially, Deegan wins the championship by 34 points over Vialle who narrowly stayed ahead of Pierce Brown who was just one point back in third.
