Two holeshots and wire-to-wire victories for the Yamaha rider.
For the second week in a row, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan went 1-1 in the Playoffs as he took home the victory at Texas Motor Speedway. Through two of the three rounds, Deegan has yet to be beaten.
On a track that many referenced as difficult to pass on, Deegan made his life easier by grabbing the holeshot in both motos. Post race, Deegan alluded to that being his biggest goal checked off for the weekend, but the double moto victory scored him a massive 50 points to pull out somewhat comfortable championship lead heading into the final round worth triple points next week.
Second place would go to Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle who had a much better weekend going 3-2 than he did at Charlotte. Vialle was satisfied with his riding at the opening round last week, but finally had better starts this week to show where his speed was at.
Team Honda HRC’s Jo Shimoda rounded out the podium going 2-3 as he and Vialle split scores on the day. Shimoda was one of the fastest riders on the track in the second moto, but spent much of the time recovering from a mid-pack start.
Levi Kitchen rode his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki to a fourth-place overall finish with mixed results on the day. Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer rounded out the top five and is in good position in the championship but was frustrated by his result after a strong P2 at Charlotte.
Behind them, it was Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith in sixth, Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas rider Pierce Brown in seventh, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo in eighth, Star Racing’s Nick Romano in ninth, and Star Racing’s Max Anstie rounding out the top 10.
Deegan now leads the championship by 19 points with the final round coming up next week in Las Vegas.
