From fill-in deal outdoors to permanent position come next season.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has rewarded Ty Masterpool with a full-time contract for 2025, expected to include Monster Energy Supercross, Pro Motocross and the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season.
Masterpool, 22, was drafted into the team as a fill-in rider just days out from this year’s outdoor opener and went on to finish fifth in the standings, highlighted by an overall victory at High Point.
“All the ups and downs it took to get here was crazy,” Masterpool announced. ” All the adversity… Was never really on factory bikes as an amateur, on about seven Loretta Lynn’s titles and then won both of them on my 125, and went straight to pro, and got rookie of the year.
“Then second year I broke my leg and unfortunately, with only a couple of days on the bike, I raced RedBud and almost won it. And then I went full privateer after that for three to four years and, yeah, all the tests that put me through and all that, but I always believed in the team I had around me and in God’s timing – hard work pays off.
“All the stories we have through that, I mean, like almost getting a podium at RedBud with a full privateer bike, almost completely stock with no graphics on the bike [laughs], and after trying in the 250 class for a couple of years, had to go to the 450 class because we couldn’t afford the 250s.
“It was just too much money, so I went full privateer 450 and, yeah, just persevered through all the adversity. Just very grateful, God is good, and really looking forward to these next couple of years. Big thank you to Mitch [Payton] and the whole Pro Circuit team.”
While he has minimal experience in Supercross, Masterpool has consistently performed outdoors in stages during his career, including P7 in the 450MX championship last year. He also went on to claim 10th in the inaugural SMX Finals series in the premier class.
