Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Casey Cochran will miss tonight’s SuperMotocross World Championship Playoff opener after crashing in qualifying. Cochran went over the bars in the rhythm section and needed to be helped off bike the Alpinestars medical team.

Cochran made an attempt to go back out for the second qualifying session but pulled off the track after a few laps and would not return. No timetable has been established yet on whether he will return to racing next week at Texas Motor Speedway or not.

“Unfortunately, [I] will be sitting out the race tonight due to a crash in qualifying,” said Cochran. “We’ll come back swinging.”

Cochran entered the Playoffs in 18th place having qualified straight into the top 20 positions. His spot is guaranteed which means he doesn’t need to qualify in again if he returns to racing next week.
