Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson will sit out the opening round of the SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs due to a practice crash on Friday. Anderson attempted to go out for qualifying on Saturday but ultimately decided to withdraw.

The crash happened in the second free practice session on Friday. Anderson originally crashed in the first turn of a practice start with Malcolm Stewart and Aaron Plessinger. He then crashed hard in the sand section later on in the session and his face was bleeding.

Despite taking place in both qualifying sessions, Monster Energy Kawasaki announced that Anderson was not fit to compete at the opening round.

“Kawasaki team rider Jason Anderson will sit out SuperMotocross Playoff 1 due to a practice crash on Friday,” said Kawasaki.  “Stay tuned for further updates.”
