'The team has made the decision to not let me attend the MXoN'.
New 250MX national champion Haiden Deegan has moved to address the situation that saw him become unavailable for Team USA at the 2024 Motocross of Nations (MXoN), the final decision underlined by Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing.
Deegan, 18, is due to undergo surgery on his wrist to remove hardware directly following his SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) title defense, which will then enable him to commence preparations for 2025.
“Wanted to get the record straight – I have hardware in my wrist that needs to be taken out after SMX and will have to heal,” Deegan commented directly following Wednesday’s official Team USA announcement.
“The team has made the decision to not let me attend the MXoN to make sure I can make pre-season training this year on time to give me the best chance at a SX title, so don’t get it confused, I’m a racer and wanted to race, and if the opportunity comes up in the future I’d be stoked to do it. Thanks to everyone that supports me.”
The United States will instead send Deegan rival Chance Hymas – who finished fourth in the final Pro Motocross 250 Class standings this year – alongside Red Bull KTM teammates Chase Sexton and Aaron Plessinger.
