Strong starts propel the KTM rider to a consistent day.
Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle broke through for his first overall win of the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross season at the Ironman National. The win pushed Vialle to P2 in the championship to close out the season.
The 250MX class was split all day long as new champion Haiden Deegan crashed in the first moto and could only finish 11th while Levi Kitchen finished P2 in the first moto before crashing out of the second moto. With the mixed results, Vialle grabbed both holeshots to win the first moto and manage himself to a P4 finish in moto two to claim the victory.
Team Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas rode to a 6-2 day for second overall and pushed moto two winner Haiden Deegan all the way to the end. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire spent both motos coming from mid-pack starts to put 4-3 scores together for a much needed podium after coming back from injury last week.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing teammates Deegan and Jordon Smith would round out the top five after Deegan collected the second moto victory to end the 2024 season on top. Smith had a much better day at the races than much of his 2024 season as he picked up a season best P3 in the first moto and rode to eighth in the second moto.
Behind them, it was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ty Masterpool in seventh, Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas’ Ryder DiFrancesco in seventh, Star Racing’s Max Anstie in eighth, Progressive Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen in ninth, and Triumph Racing’s Jalek Swoll rounded out the top 10.
At season’s end, Deegan ultimately won the championship by 69 points over Tom Vialle with Levi Kitchen settling for third. Vialle and Deegan both get to ride a confidence boost off moto wins to end the Pro Motocross season heading into the SuperMotocross Playoffs in two weeks’ time.
