Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan landed atop the 250MX podium again as he claimed the Washougal National victory on Saturday. The win was Deegan’s first overall victory since the fifth round at Southwick.

Deegan would split moto wins on the day with Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle as the duo went 2-1 and 1-2 to tie. The better second moto result earns the overall which went to Deegan as he fought around Vialle halfway through the second moto en route to the victory.

Third on the day behind them would be a solid performance out of Team Honda HRC’s Jo Shimoda. In both motos, Shimoda perhaps had the speed to stick with the leaders but didn’t start right with them as Vialle and Deegan were 1-2 off the gate both times.

It was a season best finish for Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas’ Ryder DiFrancesco who picked up 4-6 scores for fourth overall. His teammate Pierce Brown also found success at Washougal with 6-5 scores that pushed him into the top five overall.

Hometown hero Levi Kitchen was P6 overall aboard his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki after a rough first moto dragged his scores down. Behind him was Triumph Racing’s Joey Savatgy in seventh, his teammate Jalek Swoll was eighth, Team Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas finished ninth, and Muc-Off FXR ClubMX’s Jett Reynolds rounded out the top 10.

Thanks to another victory for Deegan and a rough day for Kitchen, Deegan’s championship lead is now a mammoth 54 points. With three rounds to go, if Deegan is able to maintain this lead through the next two rounds, he could potentially wrap up the championship one round early at Budds Creek.
