A sweep pulls the Kawasaki rider into P2 in the standings.
For the first time in his career, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen claimed a 250MX overall win with a 1-1 sweep of the Spring Creek National. Kitchen battled to victory in both motos to secure the breakthrough win.
The first moto was a close fight with Kitchen, Tom Vialle, Haiden Deegan, and Jo Shimoda for the whole race with Kitchen eventually coming out on top. The second moto was delayed for lightning and when it got underway, Deegan crashed huge in the first corner with Chance Hymas.
Casey Cochran broke away with the lead, but Kitchen was able to reel him in and catch him to take the win and the overall. Deegan charged all the way back to fourth from the first moto crash and was able to salvage P2 overall on the day with 3-4 scores.
Thanks to his career best P2 in the second moto Cochran rode a 9-2 performance to his first career podium result. He ended up tying with Max Anstie on the day for third, but Anstie fell short with 7-3 scores.
It was another breakthrough day for Dilan Schwartz as he earned a career first top five result with a 10-6 ride for P5. So many riders crashed or did not finish the second moto including Chance Hymas, Jo Shimoda, and Tom Vialle which not only severely altered overall results, but the championship fight as well.
Ryder DiFrancesco brought his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas home P6 overall ahead of Vialle on his Red Bull KTM in seventh, Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ty Masterpool in eighth, Star Racing Yamaha’s Jordon Smith in ninth, and Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer rounded out the top 10.
As mentioned, Kitchen moved to P2 in the standings but he’s now 54 points behind Haiden Deegan who has nearly put this title to bed with four rounds remaining.
