Wrist injury still not fully healed as Hampshire announces he will miss the next few rounds.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire will remain sidelined for at least the next few rounds of AMA Pro Motocross as he continues to heal from a wrist injury. Hampshire has explained that he had hoped to be back to racing by RedBud, but the injury isn’t healing as expected, and he is now aiming to be back before Pro Motocross ends.
The injury occurred when Hampshire crashed on press day ahead of the Fox Raceway National just days after winning the 250SX West Regional Championship in Monster Energy Supercross. Hampshire immediately received surgery on his wrist and has been healing ever since.
“Had a doctor checkup today and the wrist isn’t fully healed yet,” said Hampshire. “The original injury was a perilunate dislocation (PLD) and a fractured scaphoid. Thought I could be superhuman and be back for RedBud this weekend but it’s not going to happen. Still shooting to race a couple outdoors before SMX comes around!”
Having missed five rounds of Pro Motocross so far, Hampshire currently sits P10 in the SuperMotocross World Championship standings and will likely qualify into the Playoffs regardless of if he returns or not. But Hampshire is keen to get back to racing before the season ends to be ready for the SMX series which begins in September.
