Broken wrist to sideline Schock indefinitely

A practice crash ahead of Southwick did enough damage to require surgery.

Coty Schock will miss some AMA Pro Motocross action for the foreseeable future after the Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha rider announced he sustained a broken wrist in a practice crash on Monday. The injury will require surgery on the wrist that Schock explained will be completed later this week.

The Delaware native crashed on Monday morning at the ClubMX training facility while preparing for the upcoming Southwick National. Through four rounds, Schock sits P14 in the 250MX class standings.

“I broke my wrist today at Club and we have surgery this week,” said Schock. “We will be back; I’d like to say soon but I don’t know when my return is. It sucks. It’s not what anyone wants, but we’re in good spirits and we’re just going to keep chugging along.”

Schock already had a remarkable comeback earlier this year after rebreaking his collarbone at the Birmingham Supercross and racing the following weekend in Indianapolis after getting surgery. This time however, it does appear that Schock will be sidelined for a while.

The biggest factor at play for Schock trying to get back to racing is that he sits P11 in SuperMotocross Playoff standings, 79 points ahead of the cutoff. Though he may sneak in anyway, that might incentivize Schock to return to AMA Pro Motocross before the season is over.
