Practice crash prior to Hangtown did unexpected damage.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Nate Thrasher announced he will be miss some time after X-rays revealed a broken collarbone and bent plate in his shoulder. Thrasher crashed while training in the week prior to Hangtown and tried to tough out racing the second round anyway.
Unfortunately, more damage to his shoulder was done in the crash than anticipated forcing Thrasher to get it checked out following the race. He will require surgery that will sideline him for an undetermined amount of time, though Thrasher believes the recovery time following surgery should be rapid.
“Last week I had a bad crash at the farm and did everything I could to go racing at Hangtown,” said Thrasher. “It definitely was not easy but I did my best to get through it. Yesterday I got a X-ray and found out I broke my collarbone and bent the plate on it as well. I’ll be getting it fixed tomorrow and starting what should be a quick recovery!”
Battling through the injury, Thrasher posted 10-14 moto scores for 11th overall at Hangtown. No timetable has been established on when Thrasher will return to racing and the third round kicks off in just four days in Lakewood, Colorado. More updates on Thrasher’s condition will be provided once available.
