Race one incident with Wilson among controversial moments.
The tactics of Vince Friese in the World Supercross Championship (WSX) are ‘unacceptable’, Fire Power Froth Honda team owner Yarrive Konsky has declared following a heated night of competition within Etihad Arena.
While Konsky stopped short of naming WSX villain Friese, it’s evident that he was referring to the American after he was involved in a series of head-turning moments at Abu Dhabi’s second round.
Friese and the in-form Dean Wilson – who rides for Konsky in Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Australia in addition to his WSX commitments – traded plastics on-track on multiple occasions and exchanged words off it post race, which has sent social media into a frenzy since Saturday evening.
“Engaging in riding with the intention of causing harm to another rider, with a blatant disregard for the potential consequences, is unacceptable,” Konsky stated. “The persistent pattern of such behavior exhibited by this specific rider must be addressed before they engage in actions that cannot be rectified by a mere penalty.”
While Friese did receive a two-place penatly in the opening final for ‘dangerous racing’ and another two place relegation in race three, he was still able to complete the night third overall with a 3-2-8 scorecard. For the MCR Honda racer, he was adamant that ‘I’m not here to just ride around and have fun’.
Wilson, on the other hand, remounted and finished sixth in the opening race, before winning final two and finishing P3 in race three to finish second overall. He now sits third in the WSX championship standings, 16 points behind red plate-holder Joey Savatgy (Mobil 1 Rick Ware Racing) ahead of the final round in Melbourne, Australia, between 24-25 November.
Konsky’s international Honda team became the inaugural SX Global-operated WSX premier class champions under last season, achieving that feat with Roczen – prior to his switch to Pipes Motorsport Group for 2023 – in the two-event pilot series.
