Influential KTM icon 'impressed by determination and tenacity'.
Decorated KTM North America director of motorsports Roger De Coster has welcomed new Red Bull KTM Factory Racing signing Chase Sexton, anticipating a successful partnership with the defending 450SX number one in joining the organization.
Marking the biggest off-season move ahead of the 2024 season, Sexton’s switch from Team Honda HRC to the factory KTM outfit was formally announced earlier this week.
Belgium-born De Coster enjoyed a highly-successful racing career with multiple national and international titles to his credit and, after an extended stint as team manager for Suzuki’s motocross team, he has been instrumental since joining Red Bull KTM as team manager in 2011, before being promoted to the motorsport director in 2018.
The AMA hall of famer has won championships in his roles at KTM with the likes of Ryan Dungey, Cooper Webb, Marvin Musquin plus Ken Roczen, and now is excited to chase further success with the addition of Sexton to the manufacturer’s ranks from 2024.
“We are always watching and looking at riders progressing through their early years and Chase’s progress has been very impressive,” explained De Coster, working closely with current KTM team manager Ian Harrison. “I am impressed by his determination and tenacity on the track, as well as his professionalism in the way that he handles himself off the track.
“Our entire US team is thrilled to have the opportunity to work and grow with Chase in the coming years. Our brand values align with those of Chase, so collectively we are really excited to see what the future has in store for both of us and what we can all achieve together.”
The 450SX title defense of Sexton will commence at round one of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, inside Angel Stadium, Anaheim, on 6 January, marking his first competitive outing onboard the 450 SX-F.
