Confirmed ahead of final two World Supercross Championship rounds.
With two rounds left in this year’s World Supercross Championship, Carson Mumford has signed with the MCR Honda team for the WSX remainder on a deal that spans into the 2024 season.
Mumford rode with Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki this year, first as a fill-in for Austin Forker in 250SX West before continuing onboard a KX250 in select Pro Motocross races and then the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season.
A tear to his calf muscle meant he didn’t commence his Monster Energy Supercross campaign until Seattle, scoring a best result of P7 in East Rutherford while his best 250MX overall in 2023 came at Budds Creek where he was P8. Notably, a qualifying crash at Thunder Valley ruled him out from round three until Washougal, where he then competed until the Budds Creek round.
His charge in the SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs was brought to an end do an illness that he was battling prior to Charlotte, as his attention now turns to the remaining World Supercross Championship races this year where he will compete in SX2 onboard a CRF250R.
“I am stoked to travel abroad to race,” said Mumford, who appears to be indirectly replacing Cole Seely. “The WSX championship is an exciting new series and it will be good to get back to racing. I am also very excited to be back on the Honda brand, where I started my professional career.”
Mumford will line-up in SX2 alongside Mike Alessi when WSX resumes in Abu Dhabi on 4 November, while Vince Friese and Mitchell Oldenburg will take to the gate in SX1 for the US outfit. It is unclear if the team will be entering AMA Supercross next season.
