Attention turns to 2024 for Forkner with a minor knee injury.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team riders Austin Forkner and Carson Mumford have been ruled out of the remaining rounds of the 2023 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Finals series.
A brief statement indicated that Mumford is still battling the illness he had prior to Charlotte, while Forkner’s knee isn’t yet at 100 percent.
“Due to an illness and knee injury, Carson Mumford and Austin Forkner will miss the remaining rounds of SuperMotocross in Chicago and Los Angeles,” it confirmed.
After missing a large portion of the year with an ACL injury, Forkner tweaked his knee at the final round of the Pro Motocross Championship, deciding with the team to rest over the coming weeks in preparation for the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross season.
Forkner had gone 6-19 at ZMax Dragway for 13th overall, while Mumford was 17th in the first encounter and sat out the second moto, which resulted in 20th overall.
Free practice this afternoon was led by Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) in 250SMX, with Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) recording the fastest lap in the final 450SMX session.
