The focus of Fire Power Honda’s Max Anstie has shifted back to a supercross-only program after opting out of the remaining SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season races, instead looking ahead to the Australian and world championships.

Anstie finished third in the 250SX East championship earlier this year, notably winning the Showdown in East Rutherford. With the Fire Power team not contesting Pro Motocross, Anstie then turned his attention to the World Supercross Championship (WSX).

He completed the opening round of SX2 second in Birmingham and returned to the gate in Charlotte for the first SMX playoff, where a challenging encounter saw him 16th overall in 250SMX. Following that, a collective decision was made to focus purely on supercross, and his Australian SX2 title defence – which commences in South Australia on 7 October – plus the remaining two WSX events in Abu Dhabi and Melbourne.

“The team and I have decided to switch our focus back to supercross and getting ready for Adelaide and the Australian Supercross round coming up here in a couple of weeks,” confirmed Anstie. “So I’m back hitting the whoops and I’m on the full supercross track, so I won’t be in Chicago this weekend or LA, but I will see you guys in Adelaide. We are testing and preparing 100 percent for the goal of being on top of the podium again next year in the US supercross.”

Anstie was the team’s sole 250SMX entry in the post-season, however, it is expected that Dean Wilson will continue to represent the Fire Power Honda team in 450SMX for the remaining 2023 SuperMotocross World Championship Finals rounds.
