The anticipated 250MX debut of Daxton Bennick took place at RedBud and the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider capitalized on his group B placement to set the fastest qualifying time before landing 10th overall on the day.

Bennick was placed in the slower sessions, which hit the track first and when it was at its best, but nonetheless, his impressive 2m06.880s was unable to be bettered by the following group.

The 17-year-old ran as high as seventh in moto one and took the checkered flag in P10, before a mediocre start in the second race saw him 15th in the early stages, but he was able to work his way up to P9 to secure a top 10 overall result on debut.

“It was a good first pro race and I came into the weekend with no expectations, really,” said Bennick. “I was in the B group for qualifying, so I knew the track was going to be good, and I took advantage of it and qualified first, which was pretty cool.

“I knew the motos were going to be a challenge and long, but I got a pretty good start that first moto and ended up 10th. Then in the second moto, I did not get a good start, and I had to fight hard through the pack and ended up ninth. So 10-9 on the day, I’m really happy with how I rode.”

It is unclear when the next Pro Motocross outing will take place for the highly-acclaimed amateur rider, but the 250MX championship resumes this Saturday with round six at Southwick.

Notably, Bennick choose to debut in 250MX instead compete in the Moto Combine at RedBud, and he can score up to 40 points in Pro Motocross or contest three events prior to the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn Ranch between 31 July and 6 August.
