First top-three race result for the Honda rider in 250MX class.
Third place in moto two at Thunder Valley serves as a boost for Team Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas who is making progress in his first 250MX season.
Following an accomplished amateur career, Hymas made his professional debut in 2022 at the Pro Motocross finals in Pala, before competing in select 250SX East races earlier this year.
The CRF250R rider qualified sixth fastest at the third round of the Pro Motocross Championship but was involved in a first pile-up during the moto one, which dropped him to the back of the field. He was later able to recover to P11.
A much better opening lap in moto two saw Hymas quickly inside the top five, before moving past Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith for third on lap five, where he would finish the race to score his first 250MX podium. Fifth overall also marked his strongest round result of the season to date.
“This weekend was really good for me, even with the first-turn pileup in moto one,” Hymas said. “Coming back from dead last to 11th gave me confidence going into the second moto. I got a fifth-place start, worked my way up to third, and got to battle for second place. I wish I had made the pass, but I’m pumped on getting my first professional podium.”
The 2023 Pro Motocross Championship continues this Saturday with round four to take place at High Point, Pennsylvania.
