CRF450R rider 'excited to go racing' at last 450SX round of 2023.
Team Honda HRC’s Colt Nichols is expecting to line-up for the Salt Lake City Monster Energy Supercross finals this Saturday after his outing in Denver was brought to a premature end with a main event fall.
Nichols got tangled up while trying to make a move for third place in Denver’s 450SX main, bringing him down and he received medical attention for multiple minutes after the crash.
“Denver was going pretty good until it wasn’t,” Nichols explained. “I made really good progress all day. I’ve been feeling more like myself on the bike the past two weeks. I just got tangled with another rider going for third place, it was a weird racing incident. I felt like I had a good shot of getting on the podium tonight, but I’ve just got to keep pushing. I’m a little banged up but excited to go racing next weekend.”
Nichols landed a prized 450 opportunity with Team Honda HRC on a Supercross-only deal for 2023, and has experienced a mixed season so far with flashes of form but was also sidelined from Daytona through to Glendale after a head-knock at the eighth round.
He scored a season-best result of P4 in Nashville and has the opportunity to end the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Championship on a high this Saturday at Salt Lake City.
