Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider ruled out of 450SX remainder.
Former 450MX champion Dylan Ferrandis has marked the beginning of the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship as his return date, sitting out the remainder of the Monster Energy Supercross season.
Ferrandis, who clinched the premier class title outdoors as a rookie in 2021, hasn’t lined up since crashing out of Houston, despite initially aiming to return aboard the new YZ450F before Supercross was out.
An attempt to ride Daytona was short-lived when he crashed again on press day, which ultimately signalled the end of his indoor campaign for this year. He opened the season with 4-6-5 results across the opening three races, prior to his incident at round four.
“I’m back on the bike for the second time this week,” the Frenchman explained, looking ahead to Fox Raceway’s first round of Pro Motocross on 27 May. “Our focus now is to be back for Pala, and I will do everything I can to be ready for the outdoor season.”
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team manager Jeremy Coker added: “Dylan has been making progress, but at this point in the season, our focus is to be ready for the start of the outdoor season. We look forward to having him back with the team and fighting for another 450 title.”
