Clean-sweep by Honda rider to highlight return to form.
A dominant display from Chance Hymas at Ironman saw the Team Honda HRC rider clean sweep both motos at the second Scouting Moto Combine event of 2022.
Hymas grabbed the lead in the early stages of the opening race, but a tip-over allowed Evan Ferry (Yamaha) to move to the front.
The number 21 quickly regained his composure and tracked the Yamaha rider down to retake P1 less than a lap later, ultimately taking a 7.2s victory ahead of Ferry, with Mark Fineis (KTM) completing the rostrum for the first bout.
Another clinical performance from Hymas in moto two saw him grab the holeshot and ride on to take a 6.8s win, as Daxton Bennick (KTM) finished P2, Ferry third. A perfect scorecard for Hymas secured the overall, with Ferry second on the day and Bennick P3 with 4-2 results.
Fourth overall was Fineis (3-4) as Enzo Temmerman (Kawasaki) completed the top five with 7-7 finishes. Notably, the winner of the first Scouting Moto Combine event of 2022, Haiden Deegan, stepped up and made his professional debut at Ironman.
Hymas was set to debut in 250MX at Unadilla and compete in the final four rounds of 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross but decided to delay his professional entry following his results at Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. Ironman was a positive return to form for the Honda rider.
The Scouting Moto Combine is an initiative designed to give hand-picked amateur talent the chance to showcase their potential to key industry members at select Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship events, and also receive coaching on both on and off-track elements.
2022 marks its second season, with its final gathering this year to take place in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship finale in one week, with a return to Southern California’s Fox Raceway at Pala.
