Second overall in Michigan continued Chase Sexton’s current string of consistency in 450MX and the Team Honda HRC rider is encouraged by the ‘big change’ from last year to 2022.

Sexton’s speed has never been a question, but the current season of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross is by by far his strongest run of results since graduating to the premier class.

A 2-2 scorecard at RedBud made it nine out of 10 podiums thus far in 2022 450MX, with his worst result being P4 in moto one at Thunder Valley. He leads the standings by seven points ahead of round five winner Eli Tomac as the series moves to Southwick this Saturday for round seven.

“I’m just really encouraged by my riding and the difference from last year to this year is a pretty big change for me,” Sexton said.  “Last year I was scraping just to get moto podiums, and now I feel like I’m just way more consistently on the podium.

“It’s a cool feeling and a spot that I have wanted to be in, I love racing these guys, it’s a cool field for me. I grew up watching a lot of these guys race, and its just cool to be out there racing them.

“I obviously want to give them a fight and win, still got a lot more motivation and I think from this outdoors season I feel a lot fresher than what I have in a long time.

“This is the best I have been outdoors, 250, 450 it doesn’t really matter, my riding has been good and I’ll try to get a little bit better on the starts, and we will be in a good spot.”
