Following a record-breaking Monster Energy Supercross season, 450SX champion Eli Tomac has been nominated for his first ESPY Award in the Best Athlete, Men’s Action Sports category.

Tomac made history when he won Daytona’s main event for the sixth time, part of an incredible 2022 season where he was victorious at seven rounds and is tied fourth with Chad Reed on the all-time Supercross win list on 44.

He joins American freestyle skier and 2022 Olympic gold medalist, Alexander Hall, Japanese skateboarder and 2020 Olympic gold medalist, Yuto Horigome, and Japanese snowboarder and 2022 Olympic gold medalist, Ayumu Hirano nominated in the category.

Cooper Webb was the last Supercross athlete to be put forward for an ESPY Award in 2021 following his 450SX title win. In 2015 and 2016 Ryan Dungey was also nominated for an ESPY Award, in which he won both years in the same Best Athlete, Men’s Actions Sports category.

The 30th iteration of the ESPY Awards will be broadcast live on Wednesday, 20 July at 8:00 pm, ET on ABC from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Supercross fans can cast their votes for Eli Tomac through to Saturday, 17 July at 8:00 pm, ET.
