Team and rider pleased with swift transition despite decision.
Monster Energy Kawasaki fill-in Joey Savatgy will not contest the first round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Pala this Saturday, forgoing the opener as he progresses in form.
Savatgy joined the squad for 2022 450MX, effectively replacing the injured Adam Cianciarulo who has not announced a return date to competition.
The number 17 himself was injured earlier in the year in 450SX before his team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTMWPS withdrew. Savatgy found refuge in the prized factory Kawasaki seat for the upcoming outdoors, and it is understood that he commenced riding the KX450SR a few weeks back.
“As Joey Savatgy continues to progress toward racing form, he will forgo the opening round of the 2022 Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway this weekend,” Kawasaki Racing shared. “Monster Energy Kawasaki and Savatgy are pleased with the swift transition to the KX450SR in only a few short weeks and will look to line up soon.”
It has not been specified what round Savatgy will return, leaving Jason Anderson the sole representative for the squad in 450MX.
