450MX field dwindles as the series draws to a close.
Both Dean Wilson and Max Anstie have been added to the list of 450MX riders set to sit out round 10 of the Pro Motocross season at Ironman.
Continuing a run of 450MX riders forced out of the third to last round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Wilson announced he’s out for the season as he continues to battle Epstein-Barr Virus.
Revealed in the early part of the season, Wilson charged through the year, notching top 10 finishes and maintaining a solid pace, he admits he’s been far from where he’d like to be and is shifting focus to getting healthy.
“Well, not the news I wanted to put out but for my well being it’s the best case,” Wilson explained. “I as well as the team have decided to take time off due to the EBV virus I have been battling all summer. I showed up and pushed through it each race but there comes a point you will keep digging yourself a deeper hole.
“Even though I was cranking out top 10s I was still nowhere I should be. But anyways going to take this time to rest & get my energy/blood levels back where they need to be. Thank you all for the support!”
On the heels of back-to-back top 10 finishes, Anstie announced that he’s also sidelined for the weekend at Ironman, with the Brit announcing that he’s tested positive for Covid-19, with no timetable yet on his return to action.
“Ok… spanner to the plan or wrench in the works – I’m positive for COVID,” Anstie explained. “Felt good all week but now I feel like I have been run over by a bus, so that’s me out of action until I feel better!”
The duo join a list of riders that include, Christian Craig (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha), Justin Barcia (TLD Red Bull GasGas), Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Kawasaki) and Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) all sidelined over the last few rounds of racing.
