The Frenchman confirms intention to continue next season.
Marvin Musquin is still ironing out the details for his 2022 campaign, after confirming earlier in the season that he intends to remain on the Red Bull KTM team for next season.
Following his best finish of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship, Musquin again confirmed his intention to continue racing in 2022, but when asked specifically if he was staying with the Red Bull KTM team, the 31-year-old offered little detail.
“Yeah, we’re still working on it, but definitely my goal is to race next year,” Musquin explained. “As of right now yeah, that’s all I can say.”
Speculation continues to swirl around the expected arrival of Aaron Plessinger to the Red Bull KTM team in a switch from Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha, which would bring their 450 program to three riders with Cooper Webb’s contract running through 2022.
Ahead of the season, Musquin explained that his results wouldn’t affect his chances to remain in the factory KTM semi next season, commenting that he was already in contract talks with the Austrian brand. The Frenchman has notched just one podium since the beginning of the year.
“We have already started talking about next year, talking with Austria and KTM, so finalizing the last details for next year,” he confirmed. “This season doesn’t change anything, but at the same time I just want to go out there and try my best to win races and podiums – do the best for myself, my sponsors and team.”
As the off-season approaches and the pens begin to be drawn to sign new contracts it will be interesting to see how the line-ups shake out for Red Bull KTM, as well as the rest of the teams fielded by the KTM group.
