Second moto crash at Unadilla aggravates wrist injury from Supercross.
After a year plagued by injury, Alex Martin has announced that he’s calling time on his 2021 season following a crash in the second moto at Unadilla last Saturday.
Martin’s year has been marred by injury from the very first gate drop of his Monster Energy Supercross season in which he injured his wrist.
After battling through multiple nagging injuries throughout the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Martin suffered a crash at Unadilla, reinjuring the wrist that he injured in Supercross, subsequently ending his season.
“Whelp, it’s been that kind of year,” Martin explained. “Had a small crash at Unadilla in the 2nd moto last weekend and reinjured the wrist I hurt in Supercross.
“I’ve been working very hard to come back from numerous injury’s this year, but the reality is I’ve missed a lot of seat time and have been more focused on rehab and physical therapy this summer than actual training and riding.
“It’s a tough decision as I want to be at the races doing what I love and representing my sponsors, but at this point, I’ve decided to be done racing for the summer and let all of my injuries heal properly. Thanks to everyone that supported us this year!”
Martin’s 2021 struggles come on the heels of one of the best seasons of his career in 2020, where he notched three podiums in Pro Motocross and managed to finish in the top 10 overall in all but one round.
