Yamaha rider 'more hungry than ever' to achieve first 450MX win.
Bruising of his lungs and liver have been revealed by Aaron Plessinger after he crashed out of moto one at Unadilla on Saturday, avoiding any more serious injuries in the scare.
The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider was in pursuit of Ken Roczen (Team Honda HRC) when an awkward landing caused him to flip off the rear of the bike at speed.
“Yesterday it really sucked to be riding that good and have it end up like it did,” Plessinger reflected this afternoon. I ended up landing in a hole and jarred my hand, which sent the bike wide open. As you guys saw I did about a half backflip to the ground and landed on my back pretty good.”
Unfortunately, the Yamaha rider wasn’t able to start the second moto as he was undergoing further evaluations, however, Plessinger remains optimistic and motivated to return and finish the season strongly.
“I was spitting blood for a while… I think I came out best-case scenario with a bruised lung and slightly bruised liver,” he added. “We will go from here and see what we can do and see if I can ride this week or not. I’m more hungry than ever, that win has been eluding me and I need to get it done before the end of the year.”
Plessinger currently sits sixth in the 450MX point-standings as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship now heads to Budds Creek on 22 August for round nine.
