Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider to sit out Salt Lake City 1 night show.
The 250SX East title prospects of Christian Craig have been crushed in Salt Lake City after a qualifying crash has ultimately sidelined him for tonight’s penultimate round.
Craig topped the charts this afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium before ejecting mid-air and damaging his ankle this afternoon.
Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha teammate Colt Nichols currently leads the standings upon the eastern region’s return in Utah, with Craig eight points behind. However, an attempt for the latter to contest the heat was unsuccessful and he’s now all but out of the championship race.
Barring disaster, Nichols will be in position to clinch his first Monster Energy Supercross crown with a round to spare. Only Craig, Jo Shimoda (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) and Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) are mathematically still in contention prior to tonight’s main event.
Craig has been in convincing form since joining Yamaha in 2021, winning Houston’s season-opener and again at Indianapolis 3, while Nichols has three victories to his credit so far. It was Lawrence who won the other two.
