Escaping major injury and preparing for Atlanta.
Marvin Musquin’s return to Supercross action at Arlington 3 ended prematurely after tweaking his wrist in an opening-lap crash in the 450SX main event.
After missing all of 2020, the Red Bull KTM rider’s 2021 Monster Energy Supercross campaign has been a series of peaks and valleys.
While he’s secured three podiums this season, the Frenchman has had some tough breaks as well, none tougher than the Arlington residency.
Musquin sustained a concussion in the opening round of the residency, subsequently missing Tuesday’s race due to concussion protocol. Cleared to return for round 12, he took to the track Saturday looking to secure his first finish inside AT&T Stadium.
“Going through the sand section,” Musquin explained, “I made a mistake and another rider behind me jumped and landed right behind me, hit me and I went down. I landed wrong on my hand and tweaked my wrist. With the pain and having no strength, I couldn’t keep going.”
Escaping any major injury in the incident, Musquin will now have ample time to recover as the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series takes a two-week break before the series heads to Atlanta for a three-race residency at Atlanta Motor Speedway in April.
