Marchbanks charged after a rough start, getting into sixth with a few laps to go. As the white flag came out for the final lap, Smith closed the gap on Hammaker, but it was too little too late for Smith, as Hammaker would take the inside line before the finish and win his first heat race in just his third attempt. Third went to Martin who was followed by Jordan Bailey and Kyle Peters rounding out the top 5. The final four transfer spots went to Marchbanks, Owen, Soubeyras, and Ramyller Alves (Husqvarna) in that order.
