Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Marchbanks bounces back to top five finish

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki press release:

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks rode through the pack on a rare Wednesday night main event to score his fifth top-five finish of the season. Marchbanks maintained his third-place position in the championship standings with three Eastern Regional 250SX races remaining.

With only two off days between races instead of the regular week, Marchbanks and the crew had a quick turnaround to be ready for Round 5 of the Eastern Regional 250SX class. In his heat race, he got into second early and earned himself a good gate pick for the main event.

The main event was a different story as Marchbanks was forced to come through the pack after funneling around the first corner outside the top 10. He made quick work of his competitors and before halfway, made it up to fifth. With the riders spread out at that point, Marchbanks maintained his position and collected another top-five finish on the year.

“My start in the main didn’t do me any favors trying to get up to the front,” said Marchbanks. “I was way back and had to manage to get through the pack. I’m thankful that we were able to get through pretty quickly, but the pace at the front is really high and if you’re not there at the start, it’s hard to close the gap. Everything else feels great, I just need to get up there so I can challenge those guys from the start. We get another try in a few days (on Sunday).”
